3. If Ashtami prevails at midnight on both the days and the sum of Rohini Nakshatra in Ardhratri (midnight) is on the same day, then Janmashtami fast is performed on the day consisting of Rohini Nakshatra.
4. If Ashtami is present at midnight on both the days and Rohini Nakshatra prevails in the midnight (midnight) on both the days, then Janmashtami fast is observed on the second day.
5. If Ashtami prevails at midnight on both the days and if there is no Yoga of Rohini Nakshatra on both the days, then Janmashtami fast is observed on the second day.
6. If Ashtami does not prevail at midnight on both the days, then in each case Janmashtami fast will be on the second day.
Significance of Janmashtami
1. On this day all the temples of the country are decorated.
2. Jhakis are decorated in the honor of Shri Krishna Avatar.
3. Lord Krishna is adorned with a swing and decorated with a swing.
Men and women keep fast till 12 o'clock in the night. At twelve o'clock in the night, the news of the birth of Shri Krishna echoed in all four directions with the sound of conch shells and bells. Aarti of Lord Krishna is performed and Prasad is distributed.
