Samsung
yesterday presented a whole bunch of new products. There was Galaxy S10,
Galaxy S10 +, but also the most powerful model in this series, so the Galaxy
X10 5G.
The company also showed its first foldable Galaxy Fold smartphone and new wearables Galaxy Watch and Galaxy Fit.
Each of these products can be assessed differently, but this time we will not focus on equipment, but on the service that connects most of them.
I am talking about the virtual assistant Samsung Bixby, which in the last Samsung smartphones has its own dedicated button, thanks to which it can be recalled.
The problem is that virtual assistants are not very popular, at least not like Apple Siri. Some users prefer competitive solutions far from competitive solutions.

Virtual assistants are different. Samsung Bixby is like Microsoft Cortana - not very well seen by users.
Samsung has
already confirmed that users of the Galaxy S10 series will be able to use the
Bixby buttons to open any application. The manufacturer in the device
settings has added an option to personalize the operation of this button. Until
now, the Bixby button was launching Bixby and ... nothing more.
For many
users who are not interested in the virtual assistant of Samsung, it was a
waste of space on the housing of smartphones.
If they wanted to use this
button for other purposes, they had to use special applications. Samsung
apparently buckled under the pressure of criticism and took a step back giving
already at the level of the core software the ability to change the function of
the Bixby button.
The Bixby button on Galaxy S10 smartphones can be
used in three ways - by pressing once, pressing twice and holding it for a
while. Changes in the software give the user the opportunity to decide what
each of these actions triggers. The user will now be able to decide, for
example, that one press of the Bixby button runs the Camera, Instagram,
Facebook, Gmail, or any other application, and for example two pressings will
start the Bixby assistant.
It is worth noting that always pressing this button
for a moment will start Bixby. Either way, for people who are not interested in
Samsung's assistant, changing the approach is good news. For now, it is not
known if Samsung intends to introduce the same change in the software for
Galaxy S9 and Note 9.
Virtual assistants have recently appeared to be in
retreat.
